These are some photos from our 4 day trip to Takayama. Takayama is a historic castle town located in the northern part of Gifu prefecture--about a 4 hour train ride from Tokyo.

Aya tries her first strawberry flavored shaved ice and loved it. So refreshing on this hot and humid day!

We took a day trip to Shirakawa-go, about an hour bus ride from Takayama, to visit the village known for it's traditional Gassho-style houses (seen in the back ground).
We found a creek for Aya to play in.
A traditional Japanese breakfast we were served every morning at our inn.Aya loved it all! (and so did Alex).

At the rec center

Aya attends an activities class once a week at the local rec center. This is a class that is offered by City College of SF for free, designed for kids between 15 mo-5 years old.

Aya is wearing a dress that grand-ma Gloria made for Terri when she was a little girl.

SF Zoo

Aya and Terri spent the day at the SF Zoo today.
Aya got to pet a sheep and see some goats up close.

The ducks are too fast for me!

Found a cool ride.

After visiting the petting zoo, Aya got to see a gorilla, polar bear, giraffes and many other animals.
